Road Trip Checklist

The weather is getting nice so it’s time for a road trip for many people who live in Southern MD. Before leaving on your trip it’s important to check out your vehicle so there’s no mishaps along the way. Getting stuck on the side of the road, away from home, can be unsafe and costly.
Here is a checklist of items to check on your vehicle prior to going on a long trip:
- Check the oil and oil filter. If either is dirty or low, replace or top off as needed.
- Check the coolant level and concentration. If the mixture is low or the concentration is weak, add or replace coolant.
- Check the brake fluid level. If it's low, add or replace as needed.
- Check the power steering fluid level. If it's low, add or replace as needed.
- Check the transmission fluid level. If it's low, add or replace as needed.
- Check the battery for corrosion and secure connections. If the battery is weak, replace it before your trip.
- Check the tires for proper inflation and tread depth. If needed, inflate to the manufacturer's recommended pressure and replace any tires with low tread depth.
